Location: Washington
Road on the east, S. Dixie Highway on the West, Wenonah Place on
the North, and Southern Boulevard on the South.
Central Park is comprised of five subdivisions platted between 1918 and
1925. It began its transformation into an exclusive neighborhood
around 1919. One of the key individuals in the development of this
area was Alfred H. Wagg. Wagg was a prominent civic leader, businessman,
and a state senator. It was known as the Town of South Palm Beach
and was annexed by the City of West Palm Beach in 1925-1926. Most
of the residences in the area were constructed between the late
1910s and early 1920s. Central Park was designated as a Historic
District in the West Palm Beach Register of Historic Places in 1993.
In 1999, it was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
